A long awaited start to a new kitchen!

My new kitchen finally got underway this week thanks to a visit from Mum and Dad and two days off work. I've been planning it for over a year now and after changing my mind on the door fronts at the last minute when I got to the shop to buy them I'm really pleased with how it's looking so far.

This is how it used to look:

There was a big cupboard on the left hand side which was a lot of storage space but meant that there wasn't a lot of worktop space. It took quite a while to get the cupboard out because we had to lift it up and over the skirting board. The most annoying part was that before that cupboard went it there must have been a normal base unit in that space so all I've done is put it back to how it was before.

Now it looks like this:

There is about three times as much cupboard space as I had before and more worktop space, although at the moment that is only being achieved by the use of two of the old cupboard doors filling in the space!

A big thank you to Mum and Dad for working so hard for three days, taking out cupboards, making and putting up new ones, fitting handles, corner posts, plinths and a few trips back to B&Q for the things that we'd forgotten. Now I just need to wait for the delivery of the worktop, cornice and pelmet and then buy a new oven, fridge, sink etc.... I'll get it finished soon!
